↪️ Detour: Follow the directions of crews on site. Oversized vehicles intending to use SH36 are required to detour via SH2, SH33, SH30 and SH5 for travel between Rotorua and Tauranga.
From Wednesday 29 April, traffic will be reduced to one lane about 1km north of the SH36/Hamurana Road intersection, while a culvert is replaced. Shortly afterwards, traffic management will be put in place as part of the Hauraki Stream Bridge replacement. This will include traffic signals, stop/go signage, lane and shoulder closures, and a temporary speed limit of 30km/h. Lane restrictions are expected to remain in place until construction is complete in early 2027.
