Due to excavation work and the construction of a signalised pedestrian crossing, the road will be down to one lane with a 30km/h speed restriction in place on weekdays between 7pm and 6am from Tuesday 8th August until mid October. Plan your journey accordingly allowing extra time for travel.
Other — SH 1 Timaru, near the intersection with Grants Road
Due to intersection upgrade works, there are lane closures with a temporary speed restriction in place 24/7 from Wednesday 6th May to approximately the end of September. The traffic signals may also be affected at times. Road users are advised to expect delays during peak times.
Flooding — SH 1 Kaikoura to Cheviot
Following flooding and road damage, there are various traffic management areas including a stop/go with a 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place near Hawkswood. Road users are advised to stop on request, drive with caution and expect delays.
Washout — SH NA Inland Route 70 - Kaikoura to Greenburn Creek Bridge.
Inland route 70 has reopened between Kaikoura to Greenburn Creek Bridge with vehicle restrictions in place to 4wd vehicles only. There are roadworks sites along this route and temporary speed restrictions in place. Plan ahead and expect delays along this route.
Resurfacing — SH 1 Rolleston to Burnham
Due to final surfacing work, there will be Stop/Go traffic management, under temporary traffic lights, with a 30km/h speed restriction in place from Sunday 4thy October to Tuesday 6th October between 7:30pm and 6am. Take extra care.
